Matt Dennewitz

Matt leads the technology organization at Muck Rack, where he oversees a multidisciplinary team spanning Engineering, Product, Design, Data Science, IT, Security, and Editorial. His mandate is to guide the technical vision and operational strategy for the industry’s leading PR management platform, ensuring that the intersection of data science and user experience empowers journalists and communications professionals globally.

Before joining Muck Rack, Matt was an Engineering Director at Condé Nast with WIRED, Pitchfork, Them, and later the subscriptions and revenue group. He served as the VP Product and Engineering for Pitchfork prior to their acquisition by Condé Nast. His work there focused on high-scale web architecture, text technologies, and the digital transformation of premium media brands. Throughout his career, he has specialized in content management, archive building, resilient data pipelines, and information retrieval systems that handle complex, large-scale datasets and Webby-winning user experiences.

Beyond his leadership in SaaS and media, Matt is a notable figure in the sports analytics community. He served as the Statcast platform architect for Baseball Prospectus, building the foundational infrastructure used for advanced sabermetric analysis. Matt has spoken many times at industry events like MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference and Saberseminar, where he discusses the technical challenges and innovations in tracking data and performance metrics.

Matt attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In his spare time, he is a synthesizer and music enthusiast and performer, Cubs fan, and devoted husband.
